Harper flies high with first offer

TheOldCoach.com got the word this morning that Colby Harper, the fast rising Wylie Pirate wide receiver, got his first offer last night from the Air Force Academy. Harper, a first team all-district player last season, has really progressed in the 7 on 7 season. He has gotten a little stronger without losing any speed.

He has made some eye-popping catches in 7 on 7 games this year - including a huge two point conversion in overtime to get past a John Harris led Naaman Forrest ball club and ultimately qualify for state. Harper is the type of player who fights through nagging injuries and has continued to shine. This is the first of several big D1 offers for Harper. His father is in the marines, but it is unknown whether or not he will follow in the military footsteps of his father or go to a more traditional D1 school to apply his craft.
