Pros: McPhearson is a muscular, smaller cover man with fine athletic skills. He is an extremely explosive and very fast track athlete who uses his leaping ability and rare speed to compensate for his lack of ideal size. He has excellent range and recovery speed. He is also very strong and is able to bench press twice his body weight. His forte is man coverage where he is able to lock down receivers and do well reading the eyes of the passers. He has good instincts and knows when to gamble and when to play it more conservatively. He is a solid tackler who will deliver a strong hit. Cons: He can struggle in jump-ball situations. He needs work on the bump-and-run technique. He is not as adept in zone coverage and will react late sometimes and can get caught looking into the backfield. He needs to read the run quicker and get off blockers sooner. His hands are poor and he made only one career interception with many drops. Numbers: At the Combine, he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.42 seconds, with a 1.48 split in the first 10 yards, and a 41.5" vertical jump, 10'9" broad jump. He did 18 reps in the 225-pound bench press.
